Chrome Just Patched 12 High-Severity Bugs
Google has shipped a Chrome security update fixing 12 vulnerabilities, every one rated High severity, across core components including the V8 JavaScript engine, the ANGLE graphics layer, GPU and UI handling, WebAudio, Skia, and Chromecast. The update brings Chrome to version 150.0.7871.181/.182 on Windows and Mac and 150.0.7871.181 on Linux, with Chrome commanding roughly 65 percent of the global browser market.
Most of the flaws involve memory-safety bugs, type confusion, use-after-free, and buffer overflow issues, that could let an attacker corrupt memory, execute arbitrary code, or bypass security checks, in some cases simply by luring a victim to a malicious webpage. Ten were found internally by Google's own security teams; the other two, both in WebAudio, were flagged by XBOW, an autonomous AI-powered vulnerability research system, and earned a bounty after being triaged by an outside researcher.
Google says it has no evidence any of the 12 flaws have been exploited in the wild and is withholding technical details on several of them until more users receive the patch, standard practice to avoid handing attackers a roadmap before the fix reaches everyone. The update rolls out automatically over the coming days, but given the volume of high-severity fixes, users are advised to update and fully restart Chrome now rather than wait.
